NEW YORK MUST BE NEXT

NEW YORK – Libertarian candidate for Governor Kristin Davis today hailed the California ballot measure making marijuana legal in that state as an important milestone for  legalization in New York State.

“Californian’s have figured out what New Yorker’s need to figure out,” said Kristin Davis, formerly known as the Manhattan Madam who supplied high-priced escorts for Eliot Spitzer while in public office. “Marijuana is a $10 billion a year industry in New York State.  Its legalization and taxation will help New York’s current financial crises.”

In November, Californians will be able to vote for full Marijuana legalization and have collected 433,971 signatures to put the measure on the ballot. The referendum would legalize, tax and regulate marijuana; a plan that advocates say could raise $1.4 billion a year and save precious law enforcement and prison resources.

“Facing a $20 billion budget deficit, California voters have taken the bull by the horns to embrace something that has already been occurring in their State - legalization of Marijuana,” said Davis.

“California is setting a precedent that hard times call for innovative solutions,” says Davis.  “California is facing an enormous budget deficit and rather than raise taxes in a struggling economy, the voters have taken measures into their own hands and put the issue on the ballot so that the people can decide. Californians are sending the message that they are unhappy with the status-quo and are taking their State back”.

“It’s time New York follows suit,” says Davis. “As our budget deficit rises to over $9 billion it’s time we look for ways of bringing in new revenue rather than increase taxes on struggling New Yorkers. None of the career politicians offer any solutions to our troubled economy; they only offer more of the same - tax increases and service cuts. ”

“Our budget shortfall has gone from $7 Billion, to $9 Billion, to an estimate $15 Billion in just a few weeks,” said Davis who was the Vice President of a Hedge Fund before opening the world’s most lucrative escort service.   “Legalizing, regulating, taxing marijuana will generate $1 billion in new revenues, save millions in wanted law enforcement, cut court costs and help balance the budget.”

Davis said she would strongly support an Opt-Out clause where localities could opt by local vote not to sell marijuana in that locality.  “I believe in home rule and local option. Some counties may choose to allow legal pot sales, others may not.”

“New York has millions of marijuana users who would gladly pay taxes if marijuana was legalized,” said Davis who has vowed to petition her way onto the ballot as the candidate of a new party or seek the New York Libertarian nomination.

MADAM:  PUT POKER AT OTB

Libertarian gubernatorial candidate Kristin Davis today proposed the State legalize poker at the state’s existing OTB locations and “other locations as may benefit the state’s economy,” rather than shut down the off-track betting sites in New York as is currently being proposed because of OTB’s precarious financial situation.

“New York could make millions of dollars in revenue by legalizing, regulating and taxing poker games in New York State,” said Davis who supplied call girls for Eliot Spitzer and went to prison for breaking the laws against prostitution.  Spitzer was not charged.

“The State should bid these poker rooms out to Steve Winn, or Donald Trump for the best possible management and presentation,” said Davis.  “The State should legalize gaming because we are losing billions of dollars of revenue to Pennsylvania, Connecticut, New Jersey and Delaware.  Poker should be a first step.”

Davis noted that the State of Florida legalized poker games and took in an additional $10.8 million this year in gaming revenue.  “As Governor I would push for poker at appropriate locations across the State, including all OTB and pari-mutuel facilities,” said Davis.  “It is an attractive alternative to raising taxes and closing OTB.”

Davis has previously proposed the legalization, regulation and taxation of both prostitution and marijuana.  “Support for legalized gambling fits my libertarian outlook.”

DAVIS CALLS ON ABC TO DUMP SPITZER
What’s next, a show on relationship advice hosted by Hiram Monserrate?

Feminist Gubernatorial Candidate Kristin Davis, formerly known as the Manhattan Madam who supplied escorts for Eliot Spitzer while he was both Attorney General and Governor today called on ABC Radio (77WABC) to end negotiations with Spitzer to become a fill-in host on the ABC Radio Network.

Davis said she learned of negotiations between Spitzer and ABC from a lawyer intimately involved in the discussions with the disgraced former Governor.

Eliot Spitzer illegally utilized prostitutes while serving as the highest Law Enforcement Officer in the state. “He violated the Federal Money Laundering Laws as well as violating The Mann Act which prohibits transporting a woman across state lines for the purposes of prostitution.  He violated the public trust and used his political connections and wealth to avoid prosecution.

“Spitzer also abused his power as Governor by illegally ordering the State Police to violate The Public Officers Law in his efforts to use the State Police to spy on his political opponents and then repeatedly lied about it until his emails were released in the wake of his resignation. He has evaded prosecution and responsibility for all these acts”. Said Davis.

“WABC can have Eliot Spitzer as a guest and can most certainly interview him but bringing him on as a host condones his illegal behavior and his betrayal of the public trust” said Davis who served 4 months on Riker’s Island for her role in the prostitution scandal that took Spitzer down.

Davis said she would urge supporters to contact ABC Executives to oppose Spitzer joining the network as a host. Davis also said she would lead a boycott of ABC Radio if Spitzer’s role was formalized. “What’s next, a show on relationship advice hosted by Hiram Monserrate?”

“Eliot Spitzer is symptomatic of the entire political class that evades responsibility for their actions and their lack of progress on any of the issues facing New Yorkers” said Davis who has vowed to collect more than 15,000 signatures to place her name on the ballot in this November’s Election. “WABC Radio Executives should think twice before they give another politician a pass” Said Davis.

Spitzer's Law
By Kristin Davis

Today, I held an in-promptu press conference in front of Eliot Spitzer's apartment building to propose a much needed piece of political reform. Here is the speech and proposal for Spitzer's Law.

Former Governor Eliot Spitzer lives in this apartment building which he went went back to when I was sent to Riker's Island.

Although he resigned in disgrace for betraying the public trust and breaking the law, the taxpayers will still fund his $25,000 a year pension. Alan Hevesi, former State comptroller- resigned to take a plea for corruption-yet taxpayers fund his $166,000 pension.  Hiram Montseratte- $80,000, Senator Joe Bruno- $96,000, State police Superintendent Harry Corbitt- $84,000. This is how the "political class" covers itself.

It's a disgrace.

I favor repeal of all Pensions for public officials who are forced to resign. I favor elimination of all pensions for state legislators.

Our legislature is part time service in Albany and should be an honor and a duty not a job for life.  We simply cant afford rich health care and pension benefits for State legislators who already get automatic pay raises without having to vote for them.

I call on former Governor Spitzer to set an example today to voluntarily return his pension money to the state when he is eligible to collect in five years.

MADAM ASSAILS SILVER ON SEXUAL ASSAULT
"Silver no better than Paterson"

NEW YORK - Women's rights advocate Kristin Davis, who announced her candidacy for Governor of New York on Monday, today assailed New York Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver for attempting to block embattled Governor David Paterson from the upcoming budget talks. "If covering up a sexual assault by a staff member is a criteria for being excluded from upcoming budget talks, then Sheldon Silver should not have a seat at the table," said Davis. "Sheldon Silver shielded a top member of his staff from rape charges only to have him rape a second woman."

"Silver's actions are even worse than the allegations against Paterson," said Davis, formerly known as the Manhattan Madam who supplied escorts for Eliot Spitzer and served four months on Rikers Island for doing so. "Sheldon Silver and the Assembly conducted a whitewash investigation clearing his top Aide, then paid a half million dollars of taxpayers' money to settle a lawsuit that would have revealed Silver's failure to fully investigate rape charges against his top Aide Michael Boxley," said Davis who has pledged to collect enough signatures to put her Independent candidacy on the ballot. "Only when Silver's counsel Michael Boxley attacked and raped another woman was Silver forced to act."

"There cannot be a double standard of justice; one for the political class, and one for the average citizen," said Davis. "Sheldon Silver's handling of sexual assault by his top staffer means he is no better than Boxley, Spitzer or Monserrate. Like Paterson, he attempted to cover up a sexual assault. Sheldon Silver is in no position to judge David Paterson or anyone else."

Davis, 34, is running of Governor on a platform of legalizing prostitution and marijuana and taxing both to solve New York economic problems. She pled guilty to promoting prostitution and her bail was set at $2 million.

"Why is it that men can behave badly and assault women and pay no price, while women are penalized?" said Davis a former Hedge Fund Vice President who created the most successful escort service in history. "Michael Boxley got six month probation and $1,000 fine for what was, in fact, a rape. I did four months hard-time on Rikers Island and forfeited more than $5 million for a victimless crime."
